Active Membership is a privilege extended to professionals actively engaged in broadcast—executives, producers, performers, announcers, newscasters, writers, craftspeople, cameramen and women, directors, artists, designers, photographers, editors, academics, entertainment attorneys and others. You must have been involved in television for at least one year in order to be approved by the Membership Committee.


Active Members work in:

    * Cable and satellite
    * Independent television production
    * Academic communications departments
    * Marketing
    * New Media
    * Performing arts and creative crafts

Associate Members are those who support the advancement of television, but do not work in the designated professional categories.

Student Members are full-time students in an accredited school.


WHY JOIN
The Academy provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussion of industry problems and concerns. It affords opportunities to meet colleagues both professionally and socially. It promotes professional development in the industry and the community.

Emmy® Awards
Awarded for excellence and outstanding achievement in television—locally, nationally and internationally.

Emmy® Awards Judging
Members have the opportunity to judge the work of their peers in other local chapters around the country. Depending on your particular qualifications, you may participate in national Emmy® Award judgings as well.

Education
The National Student Television Award of Excellence, presented by the Foundation of the National Television Academy, promotes journalistic excellence among aspiring broadcasters by honoring high school students who present work that exemplifies the best practices of the profession.

Scholarships
Major college scholarships are awarded annually to exceptionally talented students pursuing careers in broadcasting. Scholarships are awarded by both the national organization and local chapters.

Networking
Members have the opportunity to interact with colleagues in the full range of television disciplines at formal and informal gatherings.

Seminars
Informative seminars are presented on a wide spectrum of topics, including cutting-edge technologies. Seminars feature Emmy® Award recipients and nominees, television professionals and industry experts.

Silver Circle
Television pioneers whose careers have spanned a quarter century or more, are nominated by their local chapters and become honored members of this prestigious group.

Gold Circle
This prestigious award honors television pioneers whose careers have spanned a half-century or more.

Television Quarterly
Members receive a free electronic subscription to this prestigious journal of the National Television Academy. It features interviews, behind-the-scenes looks, reviews, and scholarly articles by and about some of the most famous names in television.

Invitations To Events
include industry discussions, technical presentations, private screenings, and professional development workshops.

Newsletters
All members receive The National, the NTA newsletter, which highlights the activities of the National Television Academy and its local chapters. In addition chapters also produce their own newsletters focusing more closely on regional news and events.
